Welcome to The Franschhoek Conservancy!

We are a community-driven initiative dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Franschhoek Valley. By promoting sustainable environmental practices, fostering community involvement, and partnering with key organizations, we aim to create a balance between conservation and responsible development.

Together, we can ensure the valley’s ecological heritage thrives for generations to come.

Our History

The Franschhoek Conservancy was established to address the challenges of environmental degradation, wildfire risks, and community safety.

  • 2006: Initial efforts began after devastating fires swept the valley.
  • 2014: The Bohoek Security Forum was created to address security concerns, later integrating with the Franschhoek Farm Watch.
  • 2016: Landowners revived the idea of a conservancy, consolidating fire, environmental, and community initiatives into a single entity. Officially registered with Cape Nature, the Franschhoek Conservancy was born.

Since then, we’ve partnered with organizations like the Winelands Fire Protection Association and Conservation at Work to drive meaningful change.
