The Franschhoek Conservancy is a voluntary, non-profit, community-driven
organization dedicated to the conservation, rehabilitation, and responsible
management of the natural environment in Franschhoek. The Conservancy brings
together landowners, residents, and interested stakeholders to collaborate in
preserving the unique ecological landscape of the region.

To conserve and restore the natural environment, while promoting environmental
awareness, sustainable development, and responsible land stewardship within the
Franschhoek community.

We envision a thriving and resilient Franschhoek, where natural ecosystems are sustained, biodiversity flourishes, and communities work together to support environmentally responsible practices for future generations.

Our Objectives


• Promote the rehabilitation and responsible stewardship of biodiversity and
ecosystem health.
• Collaborate with landowners and stakeholders to conserve and manage the
valley’s natural habitats.
• Encourage sustainable land and water management practices.
• Advance responsible solid and liquid management to reduce pollution and protect
natural ecosystems.
• Support environmental education and awareness initiatives.
• Strengthen community wellbeing through environmentally focused projects

Governance

The Conservancy is guided by an Executive Committee responsible for the strategic
direction, management, and oversight of the organisation. The Executive Committee
operates in the best interests of the Conservancy and in furtherance of its objectives,
ensuring continuity, stability, and responsible management of its affairs.

Our Commitment

The Conservancy operates within the framework of applicable South African
environmental legislation and in alignment with its constitutional objectives. All activities
and resources of the Conservancy are directed solely towards the advancement of
its objectives and are undertaken in a non-profit manner.

Membership is open to Franschhoek landowners, lessees with landowner approval, and friends or interested parties who support the objectives of the Conservancy
